Estherville – Services for Edith Lorraine Mortenson, 80, Estherville, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 t the Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Obert Rust officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery.

Mrs. Mortenson died Sunday at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home until 12 p.m. Wednesday, when the body will be taken to the church.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson, she was born March 16, 1898, at Dunnell, Minn. She received her education in Dunnell schools and was married to Victor Mortenson on Dec. 1, 1920, at Estherville, living in Estherville her entire life following marriage.

Mrs. Mortenson was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church, charter member of the VFW Auxiliary, member of the American Legion Auxiliary, World War I Barracks Auxiliary, Service Star Legion, Degree of Honor, Pythian Sisters, Rebecca Lodge, Odd Fellows Auxiliary, Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary, Civil Defense Sky Watchers and Rock Island Woman’s Club.

She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Mortenson, Mexico, Mo., Victor Keith Mortenson, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Kermit Mortenson, Estherville; two daughters, Lorraine Mortenson, Estherville, and Mrs. Raymond (Dorothy) Bringle, Wilton, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Joe McNeal and Mrs. Nels Walburg, both of Clear Lake, Wis.

Mrs. Mortenson was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter, two brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 13, 1979)
