Estherville – Services for James Ray Montz, 80, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard Berger officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Thursday, Feb. 23, 1989 at his home.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 3 – 9 p.m. Sunday.

He was born Sept. 15, 1908 at Whitten, the son of William and Rhoda (Cordle) Montz. He was a graduate of Whitten High School. On Aug. 17, 1939 he was united in marriage with Irene Glasnapp at Ringsted. The couple moved to Emmet County in 1941 and farmed north of Gruver many years. They retired and moved into Estherville in 1977. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Estherville.

Survivors include his wife Irene; four sons: David and Roger, Cedar Falls; Eldon, Duncanville, Texas and James, Estherville; seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 25, 1989)
