Graettinger – Services for Marvin Moffitt, 81 of Graettinger will be held Tuesday, October 25, beginning at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger with Reverend Al Milligan officiating. Interment will be in Estherville’s East Side Cemetery. He died on Saturday, October 22, 1994, at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Graettinger.

He was born on November 10, 1912 in Stark County, Ill., the son of Jesse Earl Moffitt and Susan Ann Ferris, receiving his education in the Osgood and Graettinger schools. He was united in marriage to Laura Fessler on September 12, 1934 in Emmetsburg.

The couple lived in Estherville since 1934, where he was employed by Golden Sun Feeds from 1943 until his retirement in 1972. Laura died on July 28, 1981. On December 29, 1984, he was united in marriage to Flossie Weir in Estherville. The couple moved to Graettinger and have lived there since.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville and Graettinger.

Survivors include his wife Flossie Moffitt of Graettinger; two sons, Russell of Albert Lea and Keith of Gruver; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Sharon) Eisenbacher of Armstrong and Mrs. Harold (Lelyse) Smith of Estherville; two step-sons, Robert Weir of Estherville and Ronald Weir of Worland, Wy.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Harley (Shirley) Laidig of Estherville, Carolyn Veldhuizer of Waterloo and Judy Iverson of Estherville; a brother, Clarence Moffitt of Estherville; four sisters, Alta Juhl of Cylinder, Mildred Phillips of Midland, Mich., Alice Brobst of Graettinger and Nina Moffitt of Graettinger; 18 grandchildren , 19 great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Laura, one son, his parents and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 24, 1994)
