Estherville – Services for Vergie Lenora Meiners, 86, of Blooming Prairie, Minn. formerly of Estherville, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Gruver Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Neal Armstrong officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Thursday, March 15, 1990 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

She was born July 9, 1903 at Kewanee, Ill. the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Shirley) Miner and moved with her parents to the Graettinger area as a young girl where she attended school. Nov. 15, 1922 she married George Meiners at Estherville. The couple farmed in the Graettinger and Gruver areas until retiring and moving into Gruver. She moved to Estherville after her husband’s death. She moved to Blooming Prairie in 1989. She was a member of Gruver Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women and several community clubs.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lester (Marjorie) Bethke, Byron, Minn.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A sister Mrs. Edgar (Beulah) Kroupa of Stewartsville, Minn. also survives.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975, a son Jerry in 1977, parents, one sister and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 17, 1990)
