Estherville – Services for Hannah Mary Meehan, 86, of Estherville were held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry G. Willey officiating. Interment was in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Wednesday, July 13, 1994 at Holy Family Hospital.Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home with Order of Eastern Star services at 7 p.m.
She was born February 6, 1908 in Boone County, Iowa, the daughter of William and Bertha (Zenor) Greenlee and received her education in Gowrie, graduating from Gowrie High School. She attended Iowa State and Morningside colleges.
After college she lived in New York City several months, where she sold lingerie. She returned to Iowa and was a commercial lighting consultant for Fort Dodge Gas and Electric. On June 25, 1935 she was united in marriage with Edward A. Meehan at Aurelia. After marriage the family lived in Gowrie, Madrid, Forest City and in 1958 they moved to Estherville. She was a resident of Rosewood Manor at the time of her death.
She was an active member of the United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Order of Easter Star, White Shrine, the P.E.O. Sisterhood and a member of the Bid and Bye Bridge Club.
Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Freemont (Kathleen) Hobert of Banning, Calif. and Mrs. Warren (Patricia) Evans of Estherville; a son, James of Riverside, Calif.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Clinton (Helen) Lind of Glidden and a brother, Samuel Greenlee of La Verne, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband on December 13, 1986; parents; a stillborn son; and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 16, 1994)
