Estherville – Services for James [Lewis] Martin, 52, of Estherville, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with Dr. Mike Thiel officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery with military graveside service by the American Legion Post 91 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3388 both of Estherville. He died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 1994 at the Good Samaritan Center at Jackson, Minn.

He was born June 21, 1942 in Estherville, the son of Fred and Mary (Galvin) Martin. He attended school and graduated from Lincoln Central High School in Gruver, then attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville. He served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1968, stationed in Germany. Following his discharge from the military, he farmed the family farm northeast of Estherville. He was employed by Rohlin Construction from 1992 until 1994.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Martin of Estherville; sisters: Mrs. Gary (Nancy) Karlstad of Whitefish, Mont. and Mrs. Mike (Pam) Houge of Graettinger and one brother Craig Martin of Graettinger; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father who died in 1976 and his grandparents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 12, 1994)
