Rites for Former County Resident Held Monday
Funeral services for Francis Monroe Goldsberry, former Emmet county resident, were held at 10 a.m. Monday in Geneva, Minn., with the Rev. G.H. Chant officiating and at 2 p.m. in the Armstrong Methodist church. The Rev. Polovina and the Rev. W.J. Lewis officiated at the church.

Mr. Goldsberry was born Feb. 18, 1865, the son of John and Caroline Goldsberry. He died Friday at the home of his son, Larry, at Geneva.

His boyhood years were spent near Sheffield and Fredricksburg. In June, 1883, at the age of 17, he moved to Emmet county where he lived until 1927 when he went to Freeborn county, Minn.

He married Rosella Felkey on Jan. 18, 1888, and they farmed near Halfa, and later Hollandale, Minn. For the last 10 years he has made his home with his son, Larry.

He is preceded in death by his wife in 1942, a son, George, and a daughter, Mrs. Edith Carr.

His survivors are Mrs. Carrie Gangestad of Fairmont; Mrs. Mary McCoy of Mobile, Ala.; Mrs. Myrtle Whitcomb of Austin, Minn.; a son, Larry of Geneva; three brothers, John Goldsberry of Gruver; George Grems of Rock Island, Ill.; Walter Grems of Estherville; Mrs. Susie Harvey of Estherville; 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Mr. Goldsberry was buried in the Armstrong cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 15, 1951)
