Died – At their residence at Swan Lake, Mrs. Charles Knapp, of typhoid fever, Jan. 7th, 1893. The subject of this sketch was born in Norfolk county, Canada, May 9th, 1839. Her maiden name was Nonnah [Hannah] Hanson. She was married to Charles Knapp June 6th, 1856, and removed the following winter to Steuben county, N.Y., where they resided until Feb. 29th, 1866, when they came to Chickasaw county, Iowa, and in 1886 removed to Ruthven and finally settled at Swan Lake four years ago. She was the mother of eleven children, five boys and six girls. Three of the girls are dead, the rest of her children were with her at the time of her death except one. All were present at the funeral. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church about ten years ago and was a member of that church at the time of her death. The funeral was attended at the church in Swan Lake Sunday the 8th, by Rev. J.N. Liscomb of Estherville. (Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, January 12, 1893)
