Estherville – Services for Ernie Laidig, 83, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 15 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Jack Peterson officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. He died Tuesday, April 11 at his home.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 14 at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born September 8, 1911 in Ringsted, the son of Frank Wesley and Celilia (Bogh) Laidig and received his education in the Ringsted and Gruver schools. He married Daisy Elizabeth Fowler on March 9, 1935 in Spirit Lake. After his marriage, the couple farmed in the Wallingford area. He later was employed by Hill Packing Plant and John Morrell and Company retiring in 1971.

He is survived by two sons, Donald of Estherville; Ronald of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Margaret) Kinkade of Kellyville Okla.; Mrs. Robert (Mary) Severson of Oconomowoc, Wis.; 18 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; one brother, Paul Laidig of Estherville, two sisters, Edith Huntley of Dolliver and Leona Enderson of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on October 23, 1991, one granddaughter, one sister and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 12, 1995)
