Alfred Martin Olson was born March 25th, 1892, in Swan Lake Twp. and was baptized in the Immanuel Lutheran church and confirmed in the same church by Rev. S. Strand the 26th day of May, 1907.

He was united in Holy Wedlock to Miss Elsie Irene McIntire March 7th, 1921. He died the 1st day of November at the age of 36 years, 7 months and 6 days. When a young boy of seventeen years Alfred became afflicted with inflamitory rheumatism. This sickness left his heart in a weakened condition from which he never fully recovered. On Saturday, October 27, he was taken with a severe hemorrhage and on Wednesday he suffered a stroke, he gradually weakened until he passed to the great beyond at 5:15 o'clock Thursday morning.

He leaves to mourn his untimely death, his wife, Mrs. Elsie Olson, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Thorvald Olson, his brothers, Ole J. and Thomas both of Haifa; Gustav of Redfield, South Dakota and Knute C. of Baton, Colo., and one sister, Mrs. H. B. Sorum, of Estherville, and a host of relatives and friends.

Alfred was a patient sufferer. None ever heard him complain. He will be sadly missed in his home where he was always ready to help and to make life easier and more pleasant to those near and dear to him.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 5th, both from the Olson home and at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, funeral director, Chas Anderson and Rev. T. Hansen, the former pastor of the congregation conducting the funeral services. Pall bearers were the following: Anton Bervln, George Bervin, Clarence Sorum, Adolph Olson, Andrew Olson and Andrew J. Olson of Frost, Minn. A host of relatives and friends met to pay the last respect and show to t h e sorrowing family their sympathy in their bereavement.

The casket was laden with floral wreaths and bouquets given by the dear ones and friends. The choir sang three beautiful numbers at the church and one at the cemetery. The remains were laid to rest at the Swan Lake cemetery where the body will sleep until resurrection morning when Jesus will call it back to new life. May God bless and comfort those that sorrow and give them the consolation that only He can give through our Saviour Jesus Christ. Our sympathy goes out to the Olson family and we wish them God's Blessings and Joy even in the midst of sorrow. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, November 7, 1928)
