Estherville – Services for Chris Jespersen, 90, of Estherville, will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church with Dr. John Besore III officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Monday, June 7, 1993 at Rosewood Manor Care Center in Estherville. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.He was born Feb. 2, 1903 at Outrup, Denmark, the son of Niels and Ellen (Smidt) Jespersen, and they moved to the United States when he was six. The family settled in the Maple Hill area. He attended Swan Lake Township country school. He was united in marriage with Ruth McKean on Feb. 4, 1925 at Estherville. The couple farmed in the Maple Hill area over 50 years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church where he was a former elder and had been active in various farm organizations.
Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Kenneth (Velma White) Bixby, Estherville and Harriet Gray, Spencer; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers: Harry of Hartley and Holger of Pasadena, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife April 19, 1983; three infant grandchildren; parents; one sister and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 9, 1993)
