Estherville – Services for Mrs. Arnold (Margaret) Hockett,67, will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Balm officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Wednesday, March 27, 1985 at Holy Family Hospital.Henry and Olson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Margaret Ada Brandt was born Nov. 4, 1917 at Toston, Mont., the daughter of Ivar and Lydia (Jurries) Brandt. She received her education in the Sherburn, Welcome and Ceylon, Minn. schools and was a graduate of Estherville High School in 1935. On July 31, 1935, she was united in marriage with Arnold Hockett at Estherville. She worked as a secretary for Fitzgibbons Law Office for 10 years then worked at Iowa Trust and Savings Bank, later United Central Bank, for 27 years; first as a teller, then secretary and loan officer. She lived most of her life in the Estherville area.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Estherville Saddle Cub.
Survivors include her husband Arnold, Estherville; one son Don Hockett and one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Jean) Blair, both of Estherville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Doug Brandt, Estherville and George Brandt, Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters: Mrs. Florine (Lou) Vandevanter and Mary Stevens, both of Estherville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; three brothers: Charles, Edward and Floyd Brandt and on sister, Minnie. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 30, 1985)
