Estherville – Services for Mrs. William (Alice) Higinbotham, 81, will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Besore, III and the Rev. Neal Armstrong, Gruver, officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Sunday, Jan. 22, 1989 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Alice Elizabeth Ramsey was born May 3, 1907 at Grand Ridge, Ill., the daughter of James and Rose (Andrews) Ramsey. She attended Emmet County country school and graduated from Estherville High School. She attended Teacher Training School and taught in the local country schools. On July 14, 1926 she was united in marriage with William Higinbotham at Fairmont, Minn. The couple lived in Gruver until 1937 when they moved to Estherville. She was employed for many years as the Social Editor for the Estherville Daily News.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church; Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband Bill; one son Dean and wife, Houston, Texas and daughter Mrs. Harold (Janet) Hart, Chandler, Minn.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: Frank and Gus Ramsey, Estherville and sister Isabelle Ramsey, Gruver.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 25, 1989)
