Estherville – Services for Violet Haukoos, 91, of Estherville, will be held Friday at Union Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Perry officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery in Estherville. She died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at Holy Family Health Services at Estherville.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born March 3, 1907, at Cass Lake, MInn., the daughter of Franklin and Jessie (Prescott) Huffman. She attended school in Armstrong, graduating from Armstrong High School. On December 8, 1920, she was united in marriage with Otis Haukoos at Jackson, Minn. Following their marriage they farmed and lived in the Armstrong area. They moved to Estherville in 1935. She was employed several years by Estherville Community School District in the kitchen.

Violet was an active member of the Union Baptist Church in Estherville and the Women’s Society. She has been a resident at Good Samaritan Center since August of 1995.

Survivors include a son Wayne and wife Loretta; daughter-in-law Dicksie Haukoos, Estherville; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Otis who died in August, 1992; parents; one son, Irvin; one grandson; her parents and four brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 6, 1998)
