Otis Haukoos
Estherville – Services for Otis Haukoos, 91, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Mavis officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1992 at Good Samaritan Center, Estherville. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Sept. 18, 1900 at McCallsburg, the son of Peter and Mary (Hauskins) Haukoos, and attended country school near Buffalo Center. On Dec. 8, 1926 he was united in marriage with Violet Mabel Huffman at Fairmont, Minn. The couple farmed following marriage, and moved to Estherville in 1935, where he was employed by Bettsy Ross Bread Co., Estherville Creamery and later, Iowa Road Builders. He was a member of Union Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Violet; sons, Irvin and Wayne, both of Estherville; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers: Lester Haukoos, Story City; Herman, Phoenix; Harold and Earl, Walters, Minn.; Wallace, Estherville; Joe, Conger, Minn.; sisters: Pearl Lindeman, Albert Lea, Minn.; Margaret Haukoos, Frances Sauer and Marian Behr all of Walters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one great-grandson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 8, 1992)
