Estherville – Services for Esther Virginia Hatland, 88, will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Rye and Pastor Arlyn Norris officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Monday, Feb. 24, 1992 at Good Samaritan Center in Estherville. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born December 3, 1903 at Sherburn, Minn., the daughter of Edward and Anne (Schwager) Steinhorst and attended country school near Sherburn. On June 29, 1924 she was united in marriage with Earl Hatland at Estherville. Following marriage the couple moved to a farm in Ellsworth Township which they later purchased. She moved into Estherville in 1956. She was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church, ELCW and Gold Star Mothers.

Survivors include one son, Everett Hatland, rural Estherville; three daughters: Artis England and Mrs. Dale (Hazel) Erickson of Estherville and Mrs. Marvin (Eunice) Lucht of Jackson, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; a sister, Ella Schnittger of Payallup, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1951; one son, three brothers and one son-in-law. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 26, 1992)
