Fairmont, Minn. – Services for Edward Francis Hanlon, Jr., of Fairmont, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Fairmont with the Rev. Lyle E. Norris officiating. Interment arrangements are pending. He died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1992 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.Friends may call at the Hanlon residence, 402 South Prairie Street in Fairmont from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, and one hour before services at the Church Sunday. Kramer Family Funeral Home of Welcome is in charge of arrangements.
He was born May 24, 1925, the son of Edward and Janet (Bowman) Hanlon at Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a 1941 graduate of James Madison High School at Brooklyn, served in the navy from 1943-1946, then attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls graduating in 1949. He later earned his Masters Degree and Specialists Degree. He was married to Mildred Ramsey of Estherville on Feb. 9, 1951 at Albert Lea, Minn. Following marriage they lived in Coggon, later Duluth. In 1975 they moved to Fairmont where he was employed as Director of Martin County Special Education Co-Op which he held until retiring in 1990. He was a member of First Congregational Church – United Church of Christ, Fairmont, Rotary Club and Model Railroad Club of Fairmont.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Fairmont; son, Edward F. Hanlon, III of Fairmont; daughter, Mrs. David (Elizabeth) Larson, Fairmont; one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 22, 1992)
