Estherville – Memorial services for Rodney Bruce Gathercole, 43, of Estherville, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home with interment in East Side Cemetery at a later date. He died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 1995 at McKennan Hospital, at Sioux Falls, S.D.

There will be no visitation prior to the memorial service.

He was born Jan. 12, 1952 at Des Moines, the son of Paul and Florence (Westrem) Gathercole. He attended school in Estherville and graduated from High School in 1970. He then attended ILCC in Estherville one year. He remained single. He lived in Irving, Texas and Des Moines for a number of years. During this time he worked as an over-the-road trucker. He then worked for a lawn care service in the Lakes Region then in Newton. He returned to Estherville four years ago. He was baptized in the Methodist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Florence Gathercole, Estherville; father, Paul Gathercole, Des Moines; brothers, Randy Gathercole of Spirit Lake and Bob Mathews of Bemidji, Minn., one sister, Paula Gathercole of Lincoln, Neb. and grandmother, Lottie Westrem of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by both grandfathers, and one grandmother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 21, 995)
