Estherville – Services for Mrs. Eda Sophia Borlaug, 84, Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Henry and Olson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Richard Berger of the Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Monday [March 15, 1982] at the Good Samaritan Center.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday and until time of services Wednesday.

She was born April 26, 1897 [1896 per cemetery records] at Calmar, Ia. the daughter of John and Caroline (Johnson) Grundleand [Grundeland] and received her education in the Calmar schools. On April 26, 1920 she married Gerhard Borlaug at Calmar. The couple moved to Estherville in 1922 and she has lived here since.

Mrs. Borlaug was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one son Victor, Sunnyvale, Calif.; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jeanette Nesvik, Spirit Lake; eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 16, 1982)
