Estherville – Memorial services for Lillian Bonnicksen, 75, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Ray Miller officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Sunday, July 13 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

Lillian Marian Sophie Emick, the daughter of John Jacob and Minnie (Kusserow) Emick, was born May 21, 1928 in Mayer, Minnesota.

Lillian was raised in rural Minnesota and later moved to Ringsted, Iowa with her parents. She received her education in the rural schools.

In 1947, while working at Oscar's Cafe in Ringsted, she met her future husband and on June 25, 1948 she united in marriage to Bernard Donald Bonnicksen in Mankato, Minnesota. Following their marriage Lillian and Don continued to live in Ringsted until 1966 when they moved to Estherville. After the family moved to Estherville, Lillian was employed at the Good Samaritan center as a nurse aide. She retired in 1993, after working at Good Sam for twenty three years. Her family and home were her priorities in life and she will fondly be remembered for her delicious baked goodies and home cooked meals. Don died October 3, 2000.

She was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church and VFW Post 3388 Auxillary.

Lillian's memory is cherished by her daughter, Becky Opheim and her husband Steve of Fort Dodge, Iowa; son, Ryan Bonnicksen and his wife Sherry of Oakdale, Minnesota; her grandchildren, Eric and Kerri Opheim of Waukon, Iowa; Brooke Opheim of Las Vegas, Nevada; Christopher Opheim of Fort Dodge; Shannon, Brock and Blake Bonnicksen of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Jenny and Jerry Haukoos of Longmont, Colorado; great-granddaughter, Chelsy; sister, Eileen Harkema of Spencer, Iowa and sisters-in-law, Claudia Bonnicksen of Estherville and Wanda Emick of Humboldt, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers, Vernon and Ervin(Butch).
