Estherville – Services for Mrs. Charles E. (Thelma Mae) Baker, 71, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with Dr. Charles Baker and Rev. Shirley Olson officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 1989 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.She was born June 20, 1918 in Estherville the daughter of Earnest and Fannie (Nourse) Houts. Her mother died when she was a baby and she was cared for by her grandmother and later a friend of the family. Florence Swartz, in Gresham, Ore. On May 28, 1939 she was united in marriage with Charles Baker at Estherville. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Estherville. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband Charles, Estherville; two sons; Dr. Charles F. Baker, Owatonna, Minn. and Jack Baker, Mankato, Minn.; two grandchildren; one half-brother Kelly Houts, Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother and a half-sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 21, 1989)
