Henry Fogde Services Wednesday in Estherville
Henry M. Fogde, 74, rural Estherville, died Saturday evening, Dec. 1, in Rosewood Manor Nursing Home, Estherville.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palestine Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norton McCaughan officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville.
Mr. Fogde was born Sept. 6, 1899 in Nunda, S.D. , to Peter and Ella Bergum Fogde. The family came to the Graettinger area when he was a small boy and he attended Graettinger school, graduating with the class of 1919.
He was married to Gladys Jacobson March 24, 1946 at Graettinger and they farmed in the Graettinger-Wallingford area until 1948 when they moved to a farm northeast of Estherville, where he was living at the time of his death. He was a member of the Palestine Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; one son, John, Estherville; one brother, Arthur Fogde, Spencer; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Anderson and Bertha Fogde, both of Graettinger. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Pallbearers at the services will be Henry Siemers, Gilbert Siemers, Everett Hatland, Silas Knutson, Ernest Cuus and Laurits Sunde.
Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, after 9 a.m. Tuesday until noon Wednesday when the body will be taken to the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 3, 1973)
