Alma Deering
Estherville – Services for Alma Deering, 85, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel, Estherville with Pastor Richard Berger officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Monday, Aug. 28, 1989 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at the chapel from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday.

She was born May 14, 1904 in Jackson County, Minn., the daughter of Rassmus and Ida (Bettin) Thompson and attended rural Dickinson County Schools. On March 16, 1927 she married Bernhardt Deering at Dunnell, Minn. Following marriage the couple farmed near Dunnell until 1950 when they retired and moved to Estherville. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one brother, Lewis Thompson, Clifton, Texas; four sisters: Mable Nephew, Marshall, Minn.; Cleora Pederson, Vivian Caskey and Laverne Thompson, Spirit Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1963; parents; four brothers and sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 30, 1989)
