Titonka – Mrs. Sylvia Warrington Davenport, 95, formerly of Estherville, passed away early Wednesday [August 9, 1978] morning at the Titonka Nursing Home, Titonka.

Committal services for Mrs. Davenport will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at the Eastside Cemetery, Estherville, the Rev. Jim Harmon, Estherville Christian Church will officiate.

She was born March 10, 1883, at Milton, to Hamilton and Mary (Border) Bishop and received her education in the Milton schools.

In June of 1906 she married Grover Cleveland Warrington. After their marriage the couple lived in Van Buren County for awhile before moving to North Dakota. Later they moved to Sibley and in 1918 they settled in Estherville.

Four years ago Mrs. Warrington moved to the Titonka Nursing Home and while there she married Dale Davenport.

She is survived by her husband, Dale, Titonka Nursing Home; two sons, John Warrington, Lexington, Ky., and Orris Warrington, Mesa, Ariz.; two daughter, Mrs. Ward (Mary)Linn, Fairmont, Minn., and Mrs. Ruth Calhoun, Iowa City; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, four sons, two brothers and one sister.

Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday and until the time of services on Friday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 10, 1978)
