Estherville – Services for Virginia L. Dahna, 82, of Estherville, will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Arlyn Norris and Pastor Jane Johnston officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Sunday, May 4, 1997 at Holy Family Health Services, Estherville. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville.She was born August 14, 1914 at Ringsted, the daughter of Niels and Laurine (Schmidt) Hansen. In 1918 her family moved to Armstrong and later Maple Hill where she attended school. She worked in her father’s hotel. After her marriage Sept. 20, 1934 in Jackson, Minn. to LeRoy William Dahna, she cleaned homes for several families and Woody’s Pizza, later was a cook at Emmet Consolidated School; Peoples Café, VFW and American Legion Posts.
She was a member of Estherville Lutheran church and ELCW, also a member of VFW Auxiliary where she was past president, chaplain and Treasurer. The American Legion Auxiliary and the Degree of Honor.
Survivors include sons: Ronald Hansen, Fairmont, Minn. and Raymond Dahna, Estherville; daughters: Mrs. Merlyn (Lorraine) Thornburg, Estherville; Mrs. Dale (Donna) Port, Moseley, Va.; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; 5 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathryn Houseman, Lake Andes, S.D.
