Estherville – Services for Marvin (M.C.) Cooklin, 66, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Calvary Gospel Assembly with Pastor Ernest Gafkjen officiating. Interment with military service by the V.F.W. and American Legion will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Monday, Sept. 25, 1989 at Holy Family Hospital.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday.
He was born Oct. 1, 1922 at Curlew, the son of Herman and Effie (Prentice) Cooklin and attended Superior School. On July 30, 1943 he was united in marriage with Irene Kinnard at Marysville, Calif. The couple made their home in the Estherville area their entire married life. He worked most of his life as a truck driver; from 1968-1972 he operated a service station in Estherville. He was a member of Calvary Gospel Assembly Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife Irene, Estherville; two sons, Bob, Dallas, Texas and Douglas, Seattle, Wash.; three daughters: Mrs. Ronald (Marlene) Smith, Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Gary (Rhoda) Hansen, Estherville and Mrs. Charles (Rene) Yancura, Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren; three brothers: Dale, Spirit Lake, Max and Herman of Estherville; one sister, Mrs. Maurice (Delilah) Jacobson, Spirit Lake.
He was preceded in death by one son; parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 27, 1989)
