Estherville – Services for Mrs. Fred (Effie) Clayton, 80, Estherville, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. Max Goldman officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery.Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday until noon on Friday, when the body will be taken to the church.
Mrs. Clayton died Tuesday morning at Holy Family hospital.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ulyssis Grant Criger, she was born Nov. 11, 1898, at Merriman, Neb., and received her education in Nebraska. She was married to Ira Fisher in 1916 in Nebraska and after Mr. Fisher’s death, was married to Fred Clayton on Nov. 22, 1936, at Estherville.
She lived in Estherville since 1932 and was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Clayton is survived by her husband, Fred; one son, Clifford Clayton, Estherville; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Lind and Mrs. Ruby Zitterich, both of Estherville, and Mrs. Marjorie Miller, Redman, Wash.; 20 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Elma Melton, Spokane, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, two brothers and three granddaughters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 15, 1978)
