Estherville – Velda Christensen, 57, Estherville, was dead on arrival at Fairmont Community Hospital, Fairmont, Minn., Sunday, March 12.

Funeral services for Mrs. Christensen will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Ronald Flentgen officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.

Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Born May 26, 1920 in Lakefield, Minn. to Gustaz and Anna [Finkert] Malchow, she was educated in the Lakefield schools. She married Irvin Christensen Oct. 21, 1945 in Lakefield. The couple moved to Estherville in 1948 and Mr. Christensen passed away in 1972.

Mrs. Christensen worked for Berkley and Company, Spirit Lake, for the past 10 years and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran, the VFW Auxiliary, and was the present president of the Military Order of the Cooties Auxiliary.

She s survived by two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Velrie) Wieland, Colorado Springs, Colo. and Mrs. Gordan (Sheila) Schemm, Spirit Lake; three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Arnold Anderson, St. Peter, Minn.

Preceding her in death were her husband, one son, one brother and her parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 14, 1978)
