Estherville – Services for Helma M. Carlson, 78, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Norman Omodt officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Friday, June 26, 1987 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m. Sunday.

She was born July 24, 1908 at Manvel, North Dakota, the daughter of Halvor and Minnie (Knudtson) Clemitson. She received her education in the Graettinger School. On June 24, 1931 she was united in marriage with Harold Carlson at Estherville. She lived most of her life in the Graettinger, Ringsted and Estherville areas. She was employed by the L.M. Christensen Store in Estherville for 25 years. She has lived at Rosewood Manor since March of 1963.

She was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church; ELCW; Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary and Emmet County Farm Bureau.

She is survived by one daughter, Marsha Sunde and her husband, Merrill Sunde, Estherville; one granddaughter Marilee Sunde, Jackson, Minn.; one brother, Ervin Clemitson, Emmetsburg; two sisters: Mrs. Bruce (Arlene) Sampson, Ruthven and Mrs. Carl (Alvina) Bortvit, Sauk Centre, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1954; parents; step-mother; one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 27, 1987)
