John Campbell
Estherville – Services for John Thomas Campbell, 92, will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Church with Doctor James L. Harmon, officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Thursday [May 27, 1982] afternoon at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home til noon on Saturday at which time the body will be taken to the church to lie in state.

He was born July 13, 1889 at Clarence, Mo., the son of James E. and Sarah E. (Clutter) Campbell. He received his education in Missouri schools. He moved to Emmet County with his parents in 1907. On July 12, 1911 he was married to Anna Blossy and they moved to Wisconsin in1912 where he farmed and did road grading. In 1922 he moved back to Emmet Co. In 1925 he moved to a farm near Gruver where he did carpenter work. Mrs. Campbell died in December, 1942. He was united in marriage to Esther Lindsley on Feb. 23, 1947 in Estherville. She died in 1980. He was a member of the Christian Church and Modern Woodmen of America.

Survivors include one son, Robert of Estherville; three daughters: Mrs. Ed (Minnie) Harvey and Alvina Grems, Gruver, Mrs. Dean (Virginia) Clark, Estherville; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, two brothers, three half-brothers and one half-sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 28, 1982)
