Estherville – Services for Raymond Ayers, 79, of Estherville, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Kermit Rye officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Thursday, Nov. 3, 1994 at Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born July 17, 1915 at Schaller, the son of Eli and Nellie (King) Ayers. In 1930 the family moved to the Dolliver area. He attended Maple Hill School. On Dec. 19, 1942 he was united in marriage with Eileen Pedersen at Glenwood, Minn. The couple lived at Greenwood until moving to Estherville in 1956. He was employed by Estherville Block and Tile several years; Moller Construction Co., six years and also owned and operated a concrete business several years. Eileen died May 25, 1988. On Nov. 16, 1990 he married Loretta Spoo at Sioux Falls, S.D. They lived in Estherville and he worked until his health failed in Aug. 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta, Estherville; sons Wayne and Art of Estherville, Bradley of Worthington, Minn. and Richard of Graettinger; daughters, Mrs. Kenny (Phyllis) Manley of Armstrong; Mrs. Ken (Linda) Bute, Jackson, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters; Rachel Holl, Dolliver and Gladys Andre, Des Moines; a brother, Otis, Ayers of Fairmont, Minn.; step-children: Sharen Cassem and Darryll Spoo, Estherville, Pat Thomas, Sioux Falls and Connie Wieck, Montgomery; eight step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one son, one granddaughter, one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 5, 1994)
