Estherville – Services for Ethel Louise Anderson, 79, of Estherville will be Wednesday, December 30 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. John Besore III presiding. Interment will be in the East Side Cemetery. She died December 26 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.

She was born September 8, 1913 in Lincoln, Neb., the daughter of Dr. Walter R. and Florence (Blackstone) Townsend. She attended school in Minneapolis and McAllister College in St. Paul, Minn. She married Orvan Anderson on April 28, 1940 in Hartington, Neb. She moved with her parents to Minneapolis as a young girl. After graduating from college, she taught school at Charter Oak, Dennison, and Estherville. After her marriage, the couple lived in Estherville and she continued to substitute teach. She also opened Anderson Grocery for many years with her husband. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the UPW, DAR, Order of the Eastern Star, and a former member of the Estherville PTA.

She is survived by her daughter, Florence Jensen of Lone Rock; one grandson, Garet Egel, Estherville; and one sister, Harriet Wellington of Escondido, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, George. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 28, 1992)
