Estherville – Funeral services for Rosa B. Woodyard, 89, of Estherville, will be held Thursday, December 28 at 10:30 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville with the Rev. Rick Mavis officiating.

Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville. Visitation will be held at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Estherville on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. She died Monday, December 25 at Rosewood Manor Care Center.

Rosa A. Carpenter was born February 24, 1900 in Boone County, Iowa, daughter of Ambrose and Ida Mae (Ellsberry) Carpenter. She attended a country school near Boone. She moved with her family to Superior as a small girl.

On June 19, 1916, she married Harry W. Woodyard in Estherville. She lived and farmed with her husband most of her life south of Estherville. In 1969, she moved into Estherville. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church, Estherville.

She is survived by two sons, Marion Woodyard of Boise, Idaho and Raymond E. Woodyard of Estherville and three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Laura) Johnson of Estherville, Mrs. Raymond (Betty) Arndt of Hines, Ore. and Mrs. Harold (Darlene) Sampson of Burns, Ore.

She is also survived by one brother, Ernest Carpenter of Boone, two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Woodyard of Estherville, Mrs. Ruby Skeers of Spencer, 18 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, two grandchildren and her parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 27, 1989)
