Estherville – Herman Wilhelms, 93, Estherville, died Monday [September 5, 1983] afternoon at the Good Samaritan Center, Estherville.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at Henry and Olson Funeral Chapel, Estherville, with the Rev. John Bowe of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville. Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Estherville after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born Oct. 2, 1889, at LaRose, Ill, the son of Oelrich Wilhelms and Gerdena (Harms) Wilhelms. He was educated in the rural Richard, Iowa, schools. He was married to Mary Tapps Feb. 10, 1914, in Rockwell City. He farmed in Iowa and South Dakota before retiring in 1948 and moving to Estherville.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Wells, Estherville, and Mrs. Lawrence (Martha) Juhl, Estherville; four grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three sisters and five brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 6, 1983)
