Father of Local Woman Dies of Heart Attack
Mrs. Harry Loers of Spirit Lake received word Wednesday evening , Nov. 24, of the death of her father, John Wiegand, 75, of Pomona, Calif. Mr. Wiegand was visiting relatives in Ottawa, Kan., when he died of a heart attack.

The body was sent to Estherville and funeral services were conducted Monday, Nov. 29, in the Sternborg Funeral home with the Rev. C.B. Wittstruck, Methodist minister of Spirit Lake, officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill cemetery at Estherville.

Mr. Wiegand lived at May City, Hartley and Estherville prior to his moving to California. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, December 2, 1954)
