Marathon, Fla. - Lee Douglas Weir, 86 of Plainfield, Ill. and Marathon, FL., passed away at his home in Marathon March 6, 1993. Services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville on Saturday, May 1, 1993 at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. John P. Besore III officiating. Carol Kendle will present the family eulogy. There will be no visitation prior to graveside service. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Estherville is in charge of arrangements.

He was born March 3, 1907 at Estherville, the son of George and Carrie(Bemis) Weir and graduated from Sherburn, Minn., High School in 1925. On Sept 3, 1927 he married Mary Onafreg. Following marriage the couple lived in Lockport, Ill. later Plainfield where he owned and operated Weir Excavating and Grading. He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Plainfield and San Pablo Roman Catholic Church in Marathon.

Survivors include nieces and nephews; Elmer Weir, Gruver; Mrs. Wesley (Betty) Christensen, Robert Weir, Mrs. Duane (Marilyn) Syverson; Mrs. Maurice (Perl)Larson, all of Estherville; Wilma Ellis, Winona, MN; Fred Weir, Trimont, MN; George Weir, Stuart, Fla; Carol Kendle, Lincoln, Nebr.; Dr. Donald Weir, Ethopia; Mrs. Robert (Janice) Weaver, Stevens Point, Wis. and Mrs. Gene (Kathy) Scott, Menomonee Falls, Wis. and Special friend, Verna Nagle, Marathon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, April 24, 1989; and four brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 10, 1993)
