Estherville – Services for Garvin Claude Wedebrand, 64, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel with Father Thomas Topf officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with graveside services by VFW and American Legion Posts. He died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 1991 at Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls.

He was born Nov. 5, 1925 at Jackson, Minn., the son of Claude and Jessie (Carter) Wedebrand and was a graduate of Jackson High School. On May 5, 1956 he married Mary Lou Gates at Jackson. The couple moved to Estherville following their marriage. He worked for Tobin Packing Co. one year before becoming a plasterer. He worked for Lowel Johnson many years, later Northwest Plastering until retiring due to poor health. He served with the U.S. Army Occupation Force in Japan from December, 1944 to November, 1946 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou, Estherville; three sons: Kenneth, Spirit Lake; John, Estherville and Snoden, Clear Lake; three grandchildren; six brothers: Snoden and Arlin Sr., Estherville; Boral, Jackson; Lyle, Redwood Falls, Minn.; Jerry, Egan, Minn. an Randall, Breckenridge, Minn.; six sisters: Mrs. Lola Kemp, Rita Stull and Mrs. Marlys Gulbranson, Crystal, Minn.; Mrs. Thora Jenkins, Long Prairie, Minn.; Mrs. Helen Lauritson, Spirit Lake and Mrs. Edward (Lorna) Richardson, Chino, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 26, 1991)
