Mrs. Warner is Called to Final Reward
Dies Early Monday Morning of Heart Trouble
Was Sincere Christian
Is Known and Beloved Here After Residence of Thirty Five YearsThe community was saddened when it became known that Mrs. W. J. Warner [Mary A. Burnett] had passed away at two thirty this (Wednesday) morning. She had been suffering for several years with heart trouble and with Bright’s disease and had been failing rapidly for the past three weeks. Last week her two sons, Joe and Robert, were called from Chicago by her serious condition, Joe remaining with her until her death.
Mrs. Warner had lived in this city for about thirty-five years coming here with her husband and family from Albert Lea, Minn. She had during this time taken an active part in the social life of the city and was an unusually faithful worker in Grace Episcopal church. Until recently she had taught the primary class in the Sunday School of that church and many present members of the church received their first religious training from her. Just a month ago she insisted upon assisting in the entertainment of the Ladies Guild at the home of Mrs. Fred White. The people of the church and the social circles in which she moved will forever retain the sweetest memories of her many kindnesses and gentle influence.
Mrs. Warner was born in Cuba, New York, May 15, 1860. She was married to Mr. W. J. Warner at Alexandria, Mo., lived in that city for a year and a half before moving to Albert Lea. Her husband, whose loving helpmeet she had been all these years, passed away two years ago. She is survived by her two sons Joe and Robert of Chicago.
Funeral services will be held from Grace Episcopal church Friday afternoon at two o’clock. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 5, 1923)
Mrs. W. J. Warner Died Last Night
Resident of Estherville Over Thirty Years – Loved By All Who Knew HerDeath again entered our midst, this time claiming as its victim Mrs. Mary Warner, one of the kindest and most congenial elderly ladies of our city. Mrs. Warner has not been well for several months and for the past four weeks has been at the Coleman Hospital where every care and attention was shown her. Her age and the weakened condition of her body were such, however, that she could no longer hold out in her fight against death. She died in the hospital this morning at three twenty. Mrs. Warner was an example of the splendid type of womanhood so rarely found. She was a devout member of the Episcopal church and was ever ready to help some needy person. She is survived by two sons, Robert and Joe of Chicago, Ill. Joe has been with her for the past two weeks since her condition became gradually worse. Robert was forced to return to his work in Chicago but will arrive this afternoon. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon from the Episcopal church the Rev. Whittle officiating.
