Estherville – Services for Charles Walz, 91, Estherville, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ronald Flentgen officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mr. Walz died Sunday [January 6, 1980] at the Good Samaritan Center, Estherville.
Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, until noon Wednesday and at the church prior to services.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Walz, he was born June 6, 1888, at Fenton. He received his education in rural schools in the Fenton area and was married to Adelphine Dietrich on Feb. 10, 1918, at Whittemore.
He farmed in Palo Alto and Kossuth Counties until 1935 when he moved to Estherville and was employed by the city until retiring in 1955. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Walz is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Glen (Helen) Yackle and Mrs. Merlyn (Arlene) Wee, both of Estherville; two sons, George (Bill) Walz, Estherville, and Hilbert Walz, Arnolds Park; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two daughters, two grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 8, 1980)
