Estherville – Services for Robert William Twigg, 67, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Balm officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with military service by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts. He died Monday, Nov. 23, 1987 following an auto accident.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born Dec. 14, 1919 at Ayrshire, the son of William and Frieda (Wessar) Twigg. He was a 1938 graduate of Ayrshire High School. Twigg served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1944. On Aug. 3, 1943 he was united in marriage with Alice Templeman at Dickens. The couple lived in Seattle, Wash. following their marriage until 1944 when they moved to Des Moines and he attended refrigeration school. They moved to Estherville in 1945 where he operated Midwest Refrigeration until 1947. In 1947 he went to work for the City of Estherville in the water department. He worked for 33 years, until his retirement in 1980 at which time he was Superintendent of the Water Dept.

Twigg was a member of the United Methodist Church; 35 year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and 40 year member of the Benevolent Protection Order of Elks.

Survivors include his wife Alice, Estherville; four sons: M. Sgt Dennis Twigg, Tinker AFB, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Douglas Twigg, Fort Dodge, Derwood Twigg, Minneapolis and Theodore Twigg, Estherville; six grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Kathryn Rouse, Red Oak; Mrs. Dorothy Clark, Chula Vista, Calif. and Mrs. Louis (Freida) Garman, Livermore; two brothers: Fred McKenzie, Albert City and Lester McKinzie, Estherville.

He was preceded in death by one son, Dale and his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 24, 1987)
