Estherville – Graveside services for Lenna Lakin, 104, of Estherville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville with the Rev. Larry Willey officiating. She died Sunday at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be from 1-2 pm. on Tuesday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born on April 29, 1894, in Radcliffe, the daughter of Joseph Meeks and Emma Jones. She received her education in Radcliffe and graduated from high school. After graduation, she taught school for four years at Radcliffe.

On July 18, 1917, she was united in marriage to Floyd Lakin. They moved to Estherville in 1918. They owned and operated Lakin Cleaners until Mr. Lakin’s death on October 30, 1944. She was employed by R.C. Brown’s in Estherville until her retirement. She has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville since 1986.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary of Estherville.

She is survived by her grandson, James Towell of Estherville; great grandson, Christopher Towell of Estherville and great granddaughter, Emily Towell of Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, three brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 30, 1998)
