Iowa Boy, 8, Killed in Truck-Bike Accident
Estherville – Joseph Stearns, 8, son of Mrs. Harold Stearns of Estherville, was killed Tuesday [January 27, 1959] when the bicycle he was riding struck the cab of a truck that was pulling out of a driveway. (Cedar Rapids Gazette, Cedar Rapids, IA, January 27, 1959)

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Probst and Marcia attended the funeral of Mr. Probst’s nephew, Joseph Stearns at Estherville Friday, Jan. 30. Joseph was struck and killed by a truck while riding his bicycle on a street in Estherville. (Milford Mail and Terril Record, Milford, IA, February 5, 1959)
