John Jacobs, E.J. Olson, J.C. Smith and wife attended the funeral of Mrs. Gilbert Anderson at Jackson, Saturday. Mrs. Anderson was one of the early pioneer women of Dickinson county, many there are who can testify to the many kind deeds rendered during pioneer days, to her neighbors less fortunate then herself, she was past 80 years of age at the time of her death. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Gilbert Anderson, a much respected citizen and an old soldier now of Jackson, Minnesota, three sons Henry, of Jackson; Andrew of Wilmot, South Dakota; Conrad of Superior township, and three daughters, Mrs. Ben Matson, Mrs. J.P. Nelson and Mrs. Chas. Olson, of Jackson, all worthy men and women. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, August 31, 1916)

Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Smith, E.J. Olson and John Jacobs attended the funeral of Mrs. Gilbert Anderson, at Jackson, Saturday. Mrs. Anderson had for years resided north of town, and for several years lived in our little town. About three years ago they moved to Jackson that they might be near their daughters. Mrs. Anderson was one of those kind, hospitable people, always ready to lend a helping hand, and was loved by all. A host of friends join with us in extending sympathy to the aged husband and the sons and daughters. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, August 30, 1916)
