Florence Sanderson
Estherville – Funeral services for Florence M. Sanderson, 82, of Estherville will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 25 at the Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Arlyn Norris officiating. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville. She died on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

Florence was born on Oct. 23, 1919 in Palermo, N.D., the daughter of Ole and Mary (Anderson) Johnson. She received her education in the Palermo schools, graduating from Palermo High School. After graduation from high school she attended Hamilton Business School in Mason City.

On Oct. 30, 1943 she was united in marriage to Daniel D. Sanderson in Santa Ana, Calif. Following their marriage, when Dan returned from military service during World War II, they lived in Iowa City for several years while Dan attended law school. In 1949 they moved to Estherville where they have lived since.

Florence was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church where she enjoyed attending church activities and was active in ELCE and the Anna Circle. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway.

Florence is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Albertson of Estherville; three sons, William (Bill) Sanderson and his wife, Nancy of Estherville, Jack Sanderson and his fiancée, Donna of Estherville and Paul Sanderson and his wife, Jane of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three sisters, Olga Ouverson and her husband, Francis of Hanlontown, Evelyn Johnson of Mason City and Elvira Olson and her husband, Russell of Fairfax.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one great grandson, Gavin Donkersloot; parents; four brothers, Earl, Helmer, Adolph and Walter, and two sisters, Hazel Lundt and Nora Monk. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 21, 2002)
