Estherville – Services for Charles J. Robinson, 93, Estherville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the First Christian Church in Estherville, with the Rev. Robert Kunz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 1985 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

He was born March 9, 1891 in Storm Lake, the son of William Strickland and Louise (Dunn) Robinson and graduated from Babcock School of Pharmacy in Highland Park, Des Moines. On Nov. 20, 1912 he was united in marriage to Pearl V. Riley in Estherville. On Jan. 7, 1921 Robinson and his partner Mr. G.H. Leffler purchased Birney Drug Store from Dr. C.E. Birney. They operated the Estherville Drug until 1946 when Robinson’s son Charles William purchased Leffler’s interest and were then joined by Robinson’s grandson Charles Alan Robinson in 1969. He was a member of the First Christian Church, a life member of BPOE and in 1971 was honored by the Iowa State Pharmacy Association as a 50-year member.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Charles William and Mary Catherine Robinson, Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren Charles Alan Robinson and his wife Onalee Robinson, Estherville and Ann Robinson, Denver, Colo.; three great grandchildren Jeffrey, Susan and Megan Robinson, Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his wife on June 15, 1983; his parents, two sisters and two parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 21, 1985)
