Estherville – Services for Gerald “Red” Richardson, 76, of Estherville will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Union Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Perry officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. He died on Friday, October 20, 1995, at Holy Family Hospital.Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Military Graveside Rites by the VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.
He was born on January 18, 1919 in Osage, the son of Ralph A. and Martha (Farnham) Richardson, and was educated in rural country schools and Grand Junction schools. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Monk on March 31, 1946 in Mintor, MN.
After their marriage the couple lived in Grand Junction and Scranton where they farmed. They moved to Estherville in 1949 and he was then employed at the Hills Horse Plant for 5 years. He was later employed with the John Morrell Meat Packing Plant for 25 years, retiring in 1981. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church, VFW Post 3388 and the American Legion Post 91.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Richardson of Estherville; two sons, Dan and Don Richardson of Estherville; a daughter, Cathy Nordhausen of Elk River, Minn.; two sisters, Gladys Floz of Mihnomen, Minn., and Helen Spires of Auburn, WA; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 23, 1995)
