Estherville – Funeral services for Ethel Richard, 91, of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at the First Christian Church in Estherville with Dr. Mike Thiel officiating. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville. She died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born April 1, 1907, in Estherville, the daughter of Peter and Barbara (Bellharz) Klein of Estherville.

She lived all her life in the Estherville and Wallingford area. She received her education in the country schools and graduated from Estherville High School. She taught country school for a short time.

On November 13, 1926, she united in marriage to Albert Richard in Blue Earth, Minn. They farmed in Emmet County until Albert’s death in 1966. She continued to live on the farm until 1971 when she moved to Estherville.

She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Estherville. She was a member of the planning committee of the church and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Advisory Council of the Northwest Area Aging Association, Estherville Senior Citizens, the Emmet County Farm Bureau Woman, a 4-H leader and a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by her sons, Donald Richard of Estherville; Wayne Richard of Estherville; sister Laura Cummins of Armstrong; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, daughter-in-law and six brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 20, 1999)
