Armstrong – Services for Doris Peterson, 92, of Armstrong, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 6 at the United Methodist Church in Armstrong with the Rev. Mary Schultz officiating. Interment will be held at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong. She died on Saturday, September 30 at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong.

No visitation will be held prior to the memorial service. There will be a private family committal service prior to the funeral.

She was born on January 8, 1903 in Gary, S.D., the daughter of Edgar and Alma (Inman) Simpson. She moved with her family to the Armstrong area as a young girl and received her education in the Emmet County country schools. She was united in marriage to Alfred Peterson on February 22, 1930. Following their marriage, they farmed in Silver Lake township in Minnesota. In --- they moved to a farm three miles north of Armstrong where the farmed until his death in 1974 [1974]. She moved into Armstrong in 1974 and has been a resident at Valley Vue Care Center for the past 10 years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Armstrong, Lake Road Club and the Emmet County Farm Bureau.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Walter (Mary Ellen) Slack of Newcastle, PA; three grandchildren, Carolyn, Jeffrey and Gregory Slack; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 4, 1995)
