At the residence of A. Bixby, in Fairview township, Emmet county, Iowa, on the 2nd day of January, A.D. 1869, Luretta Heely, aged 77 years.

The deceased had been a lady of remarkable mental powers, and possessed those estimable qualities of charity, beneavolence and true woman-hood, that endeared her to all within the circle of her acquaintance, but the infirmaties of age, coupled with disease, overpowered sometime before here death, her reason.

But the troubles and griefs incident to mentle aberation, no longer shrouds her intellect, and beyond the silver lining that tinge the clouds which hover around the sunset of her life, her pure spirit now basks in the golden splendor of the summer land.

“For purer still, from out the furnace glow,
Cometh the gold;
And brighter to the wanderer gleams his home,
Through storm and cold.

So looking back over the weary road
Her feet had pressed,
An hundred times more lovely seems at last,
Eternal rest.”
