Brackett Rites to Be Held On Monday
Funeral arrangements are complete for Burnice Hilton Brackett, 77, who died yesterday after a six-year illness. Services will be held Monday morning at Sandin funeral home at 10:30. Interment will be at Garner and a short service will be held at the Bohn funeral home there. Masonic rites will be conducted at the cemetery.

Mr. Brackett was born March 7, 1875, the son of Adelia and George Brackett in Charleston, Vt. He came to Iowa 46 years ago and settled in Mason City. Mable Hale Blackstone of Garner became his wife June 9, 1909.

Mr. Brackett was associated with the Northern Lumber company for 18 years both as an auditor and yard manager at different points throughout Iowa and in 1919 the Bracketts moved to Estherville from Mason City and entered the storage and transfer business. After disposing of the transfer business he entered the grain business with the firm of J.E. Stockdale and Brackett and later with Jno. Greig and Co. He retired from business five years ago because of his failing health.

Before his retirement from active business Brackett was interested in civic affairs, serving for several years on the city council here when the city hall and swimming pool were built and was active in the Chamber of Commerce and its functions.

His survivors include his widow, one sister, Mrs. C.B. Norton of Gorham, N.H., one brother, Wilmer, of Winter Park, Fla., and five nieces in the New England states.

He was an active member of the Masonic lodge, joining that organization 47 years ago. He became affiliated with the Methodist church in Mason City 40 years ago.

Active pallbearers will be William Schloeman, Evan Higgins, Arnold Mouritsen, Howard Ashburn, Merril Robb and Lincoln Shonkwiler. Honorary pall bearers are Dan Howard, Jay Howard, James White, J.E. Stockdale, Jno. Greig and William S. Johnston,.

Friends may call at the Sandin funeral home this evening and up to the time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 25, 1952)
